    RADU BARTAN - CRC Director of Junior Tennis

    • Born in Romania, Radu was the top ranked Junior and Doubles National Champion
    • Played #1 singles and doubles at Division 1 Bowling Green State University where he earned "First Team All-Mid-American" conference honors
    • Played Professional Tennis for two years
    • Locally, Radu has been developing Cleveland area Juniors since 1995-his students have competed at the local, state, national and collegiate levels as well as competing at the professional levels
    • Radu's focus with Juniors has been to extensively assist and support his students to develop the skills they need to succeed on and off the tennis courts

    JIM ELWING is in his eleventh year at CRC. He was recently recognized for his 30 years of service to the United States Professional Tennis Association. He has a Certified Level 1 rating. In 2002, Jim was honored as a Specialist in Competitive Player Development, considered the top level of coaching by the USTA. In 2004, Jim received the Faye Tooley Memorial Award, given to the Midwest tennis professional for his contribution to the tennis industry. Jim has served as Head Coach for Team Cleveland at the last eight International Children’s Games held in Hungary, Poland, Greece, Thailand, United States and England. Jim was selected as the 2007 Volunteer of the Year by the Northeast Ohio Tennis Association. In 2009, Jim was voted Ohio Professional of the Year by the USPTA. One of Jim’s strongest assets is his ability to teach all ages and levels of play, from beginners to advanced tournament players.

    J.T. TINJACA
    brings 22 years teaching experience to our staff.
    He has successfully coached juniors at Midwest and National level tournaments. He has been named High School Coach of the Year three times.  JT has won the Ohio Clay Court Doubles Championships, coached U. S. A. Adult teams to State and National levels, is USPTA certified Pro Level 2 and has coached juniors who have played or are currently playing NCAA tennis. He is on the Prince Advisory Staff. In addition: In 2006, JT traveled to Indianapolis with our 3.5 Women's Team to compete at the Midwest after having won the State Championship. In 2010, he traveled to Arizona with our 3.0 Men's Team to compete at the Nationals. As an Assistant Coach at Hathaway Brown School for the past 5 years, JT has helped the students achieve many successes:

    This gives JT the opportunity to coach and observe many of our Juniors in a competitive situation. In 2010, JT became an APTA certified paddle tennis professional. In 2010, he became a member of the National Federation of State High School Coaches Association. JT has the unique ability to strike the ball with all - from Mighty Mites to All-Americans!

    TIM NIEMAN began his teaching career 12 years ago at The Country Club before joining the staff here at CRC 8 years ago.
    He was a lifer at University School and lettered all four years. During those four years, US won a State Championship and Tim was a two time State qualifier. He then continued his tennis career at Denison University and graduated in 2003. In 2010, Tim became an APTA certified paddle tennis. He looks forward to another great year here at CRC.
