WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF SQUASH AT THE CLEVELAND RACQUET CLUB.
The Cleveland Racquet Club is home to the most prominent Squash program in Ohio and has established global recognition by hosting major national and international events. The Club has a history of hosting professional squash players with the WISPA (Women’s International Squash Professional Association) Tour being the flagship event for the past five seasons. In 2011, with a $56,000 purse, the gold level Cleveland WISPA Classic was the largest event in America, attracting 13 of the world’s top 15 players in the draw.
With an addition added in 2007, we now have four 21ft wide International Singles courts, two North American Hardball Doubles courts and one 18.5ft wide Hardball Singles court. The court layout is ideal for tournaments and lends to a social program as all of the courts can be seen from the center of the viewing gallery. Our highly certified professional Squash staff both hail from the UK. They bring over 30 years of coaching experience to the CRC squash program.
Squash Director, Nathan Dugan, runs a court side pro shop for all your Squash equipment needs. The hours of the shop vary depending on lesson schedules for the day, so for specific needs it is a good idea to contact the squash staff in advance. There is always a wide variety of racquet frames and squash shoes available. Racquet stringing is also done on-site with your choice of string. There are programs available for all ages and levels of play.
There are junior clinics available for all standards each week starting from the age of five. Adults can play in the monthly box leagues which is a great way for Members to meet new players of a similar skill level. For the tournament players, there are multiple singles and doubles events which include guests from all over the Midwest, as well as the annual Member only CRC Club Championships.

Hard Ball Doubles Explained
Doubles provides the element of team spirit and socializing that is missing from individual sports. Despite the doubles court being one hundred and thirty-eight percent larger than a singles court, the tolls on a player’s body are far less demanding. This can prolong the life of a squash player considerably. Doubles gives players of different skill levels a chance to mix freely on a court in a sport where singles is not quite as forgiving. Apart from the court dimensions the main difference between singles and doubles is the ball. In doubles the ball is made of hard rubber, (instead of the soft rubber used in singles). This makes for a completely different array of shots and speed of ball movement. For anyone who has not tried this great game you are missing out on an incredibly fun experience!
